The Thursday Film Series invites you to join us and other fellow Oscar Wilde fans for a pre film talk with professor George Johnson on Oscar Wilde: his life, his times and his legacy.
Where: Paramount Theatre

Dr. George Johnson is a professor of English and Modern Languages at Thompson River University. He holds a B.A. in Honours English and Psychology from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Arts and a PhD from McMaster University. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for his writing, including first prize at Toronto’s WILDsound Film Festival’s Screenplay competition in 2017 for his work Peace Pledge. He was also listed as a finalist in London’s New Renaissance Film Festival and received Honourable Mention in the 2015 Euroscript Screenwriting Competition for this compelling true story of Canon Dick Sheppard and the strongest pacifist movement in history.

Dr. Johnson’s interests lie in social justice issues, antiquarian books, Nineteenth-Century Ontario history and singing. His contributions to research around late-Victorian and Edwardian and Modernist British literature as well as psychoanalytic and psychological approaches to literature, creative writing including picture books, stage plays and screenplays, has been extensive.

Dr. Johnson is an Oscar Wilde enthusiast and is a sought after speaker and presenter.
